An international documentary series exploring how governments weaponize the law to instil fear and silence dissent. Through intimate access to judges under siege, activists facing imprisonment, and families torn apart by state persecution, this documentary series reveals how quickly the rule of law can become the rule of fear.
The series offers the first-hand experience of survivors and victims’ families – bringing emotion and reality to the audience along with access to great legal and political minds that can encapsulate the burning judicial and political questions.
It is also an inspirational, positive series looking at how individuals and organizations have stood up to injustice and either stopped or reversed authoritarian trends in their countries. This is all combined with quality original and archive footage that help the viewer to become immersed in the issues and individual stories.
The project was part of East Doc Platform, the Ex Oriente series workshops and has received support from Creative Europe.
